What’s a Meeting in a Box?

We’ve learned a lot so far through other types of public engagement, but a meeting in a box provides an opportunity for peers, handpicked by you, to brainstorm together about how Brookline evolves and what matters most to the community, from housing and transportation to parks and public services. This method ensures we receive feedback from people we may have otherwise missed. Check out the FAQs to learn more!

  • Brookline’s Comprehensive Plan is a 15-year roadmap for the Town’s future, focused on six key themes: Thriving Commercial Areas, Expanded Housing Opportunities, Livable Neighborhoods, Mobility and Access, Climate Action and Resiliency, and Public Wellbeing. It will guide the future physical design of a community, including clarifying the relationships between physical development policies and social and economic goals.

  • We’ve learned a lot so far, but before putting pen to paper, we want to hear from you again. These conversations will help guide decisions about how Brookline grows and what matters most to the community, from housing and transportation to parks and public services.

    Your voice matters.

  • Anyone! If you live, work, or spend time in Brookline, you’re welcome to host.

  • It’s easy:

    1. Gather a group of people who care about Brookline (friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc.)

    2. Schedule a meeting with them anytime between January 21 and February 22, 2026

    3. Download the Meeting in a Box materials below or pick them up at Town Hall starting January 21

    4. Use the provided guide to lead the conversation

    5. Have participants fill out a short survey

    6. Send your notes and any paper surveys back to the Planning Department

  • No. These conversations can happen anywhere: at home, a local coffee shop or library, or even remotely online!

  • No problem! There are other ways to get involved:

    • Take the community survey between January 21st and February 22nd 

    • Join us in person at Brookline Town Hall, Room 103, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 between 7:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. Drop in at any time and share your thoughts!
